The little street girl.

02/08/2009,Gurgaon.

Please give me one rupee cries the little girl,
She has lost all her smile and hair curl.

She starts the day begging on the street,
It’s a hard ask on a little soul to make both ends meet.

She has no slippers in her feet,
Her innocent face shows she has faced a severe cheat.

Yes,she has been cheated by her parents,
Who have given her birth but no clothes,no food,no shelter but life full of shatters.

She hardly has anything to cover her frail body,
But yes she wears a look of poverty.

Poverty fails to hide her cuteness,
Her voice fully supports her innocence.

Her eyes possess a question,
A question which has no answer to mention.

She moves from book stall to food junction,
Though it is too sunny but she has no fear of skin complexion.

Destiny has made her so strong,
She looks at life just like a beautiful song.

Instead of writing alphabets on a slate,
Her tiny hands carry flowers and Goddess’s photo on a plate.

She struggles to hold the plate with one hand,
But manages superbly to beg with other hand.

From bus stand to temple she keeps on moving to and fro,
But no one is touched by her condition and sorrow.

She even don’t know the difference between joy and sorrow,
Because she has to do the same work today and tomorrow.

There is nothing new to her,
She has to beg to feed her.

After much wandering and the crunch,
She manages to have her lunch.

Her lunch often consists of temple’s offerings,
She has no choice but to accept with all her sufferings.

The day begins to end,
And the Sun begins to set.

She begins her hunt to have dinner.
People just stare at her as if she is a big sinner.

She have few biscuits and a cup of tea,
Which are a result of her constant plea.

To her Sun rising is time to hold a plate,
And Sun setting is time to find a place.

A place which is sometimes steps of temple,
Or the place where people gamble.

A place where she can sleep,
To lost in the dreams so deep.

Where she can forget herself,
And the world around her.

Night is the only time when she gets some rest.
This is the time when she sinks to the bottom of rest.

She gets up with the beautiful sound of birds chirping,
But this new morning only seems to her as a time to start begging.

Please give me one rupee cries the little girl,
She has lost all her smile and hair curl.
